ISO CHEMIE’S Has Window And Door Sealing Collared

Rapid and effective air and weather tight sealing around windows and doors is provided by a new easy-to-use collar system from foam sealants specialists ISO-CHEMIE.

The self-adhesive ISO-CONNECT EPDM SEALING COLLAR is a single-piece bespoke solution, which can be quickly fitted around fenestration elements installed in façades and load bearing walls to provide long lasting external protection against the elements.

Featuring vulcanised sections, the collar can be fitted up to six times faster than alternative foil strip sealants via a butyl adhesive or a clip-in frame groove feature, saving onsite labour and material costs.

Product can be customised to specific applications – the fitter places the collar around the frame section in front of the wall before securely bonding it to the supporting wall or façade.

Manufactured from flexible EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer), which can compensate for joint movements due to its high elasticity properties, ISO-CONNECT EPDM SEALING COLLAR is resistant to extremes of temperature and weather.

It also possesses good diffusion properties and complies with the relevant building regulations and DIN EN standards, covering thermal conductivity, dimension tolerance, and resistance to driving rain on joints among others.

Supplied with a 10-year warranty and available in 0.6mm, 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.3mm and 1.5mm thicknesses, ISO-CONNECT EPDM SEALING COLLAR comes in a choice of four finishes to suit all applications. Moulded inside and outside corners are also available for in front-of-wall elements, lower connection areas, floor-level elements, and balcony and patio door systems.

ISO-CHEMIE specialises in the manufacturer of foam products from polyethylene (EPE), polypropylene (EPP) and polyurethane (PUR) using the latest production techniques.

Prominent Stoke-on-Trent fabricator Listers Central has continued their long-term support of the local Dougie Mac Hospice, by donating a large variety of Stoke City FC memorabilia.

Glazerite Chooses HiTECH Blinds

G-Award Winners The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has become the latest high-profile brand to begin offering blinds from HiTECH Blinds Ltd.

The long-standing national firm has built its business offering quality doors and windows using VEKA, Halo, and a host of other leading systems including Solidor, Warmcore and Residence Collection.

Now, after being named G17 Fabricator of the Year back in November 2017, The Glazerite UK Group Ltd has expanded that product portfolio even further by offering Hitech Blinds.

HiTECH Blinds Ltd was the brainchild of industry veteran Nigel Greening and two experienced Directors from commercial aluminium fabricator AGF Ltd, Mike Yerrell and Michelle Scotney.

With the help of integrated blind and IGU expert Ian Woolley, who was brought in to help grow the business, the Peterborough company has quickly become a force to be reckoned with.

Glazerite Group Marketing Manager Michelle Wright comments: “We pride ourselves on offering one of the most comprehensive product ranges in the industry.  We also like to offer our installers additional products and enhanced benefits that can help them close a sale or upsell. The partnership with HiTECH Blinds was formed initially because they have a blind system that met our demanding standards. We’ve got a reputation to keep, which is why we only work with the best brands in the industry. We’ll never offer our customers anything we’re not 100% happy with.

“We’ve known Ian for years now – and when he and the HiTECH Blinds team came up with an innovative new design, eliminating the common problems we’ve experienced with other products, we decided we had to take a look. We were hugely impressed – it’s a perfect fit for Glazerite and our customers.”

Successfully cycle-tested to 10,000 cycles, magnetically-operated HiTECH Blinds offer BS EN 1279 accreditation, along with a no-nonsense 10-year guarantee – said to be twice that offered by any of the firm’s competitors with similar systems.

HiTECH Blinds is claimed to be the only manufacturer on the market capable of offering dual-coloured slats to match dual-coloured frames. It can also produce double and triple-glazed units with Georgian bars and other decorative elements.

HiTECH Blinds Sales Director Ian Woolley commented: “It goes without saying – we’re thrilled to have one of the country’s best fabricators as a customer. It’s a massive vote of confidence in our team and our products, and we’re hugely excited to see what the future holds for our partnership with The Glazerite UK Group Ltd.”

Yale Strengthens Smart Door Lock Selling Opportunities

Yale has developed its smart door locking range and marketing support to help fabricators and installers get to grips with the new technology and provide a superior product offering for end-users.

In October of last year, Yale released its TV advert for the Conexis L1 to raise awareness and promote the lifestyle benefits of Smart Door Locks to homeowners, helping drive consumer pull through for the innovative solution.

As well as promoting the benefits of smart security to UK homeowners, Yale has created a wealth of resources to help support its customers adopting the new technology. This includes not only print brochures, but also instore POS and a complete series of ‘How to’ videos. The videos demonstrate the installation process for products as well as showing short clips that detail how to set up and connect the different locks. All of which helps make the process much more streamlined and simple for users.

What’s more, in 2017 the Smart Living suite opened its doors, providing a space for Yale’s customers to familiarise themselves with the smart products first hand, as well as ask any questions.

Paul Atkinson, Sales and Commercial Director for Yale Door and Window Solutions, comments: we want to give our customers as much support as possible developing business models and routes to market for the transition into the smart home market and make selling smart products as simple as possible.

“As Smart Locking is relatively new, there is currently no benchmark for smart door locks. Yale is helping change this by working alongside the British Standards Institute to create a Smart Door Locking standard. This will help regulate the industry and provide fabricators and installers with a recognised benchmark of quality. Yale’s Conexis® L1 is currently being used as one of the test pilot products to support development of the IoT Kitemark.

As the popularity of smart door locks increases, Yale has also extended its range to offer a variety of new finishes. The Conexis L1, which launched last year, as well as the popular Keyless Smart Door Lock have both been updated to include brand new colour options. In addition to the chrome option, the locks are now available in satin nickel and polished brass finishes.

The new colours give homeowners more choice to select a finish that suits their style of door. The satin nickel and polished brass finishes have been designed to suit both traditional properties and modern homes alike. They offer up-to-date security that not only protects the home but look aesthetically pleasing on any compatible door. This improves the selling process as homeowners now have much more choice.

SLIDERS UK LAUNCHES NEW ‘INTELLIGENT-TIMBER’ COMPOSITE DOOR

Sliders UK has launched its new PAS24 and Part Q approved ‘intelligent timber’ Ultimate Composite Door

Among the UK’s most secure doors, its manufactured using the new Capstone leaf which features 15mm thick LVL timber inserts.

Intelligently encased inside a foam core and durable GRP skin, these provide additional core strength without impacting on thermal efficiency.

This combination means that it not only achieves U-values of as low as 1.0Wm2.K, but has also been independently tested to PAS24:2016 – including cut-through testing.

Security is further enhanced through Capstone’s patented three stage glazing cassette system, which supports easy replacement of glass but maximizes security.

Steve Mines, Sales Director, Sliders UK said: “Security is always a major driver in entrance door retail and this is among most secure doors on the market.

“The major positive for the trade is that the way timber is used in the door not only makes it more resistant to attack – so that it’s Part Q approved – but encased in foam and GRP, there’s no chance of water ingress or warping.  It also delivers great thermal performance.”

This technically advanced combination of  timber inserts and thermally insulating foam also significantly reduces bowing, which means that the Ultimate Composite Door is supplied by Sliders UK with just a 3mm bowing tolerance.

“Bowing can cause a stack of problems and call-outs impacting on weather sealing and locking. With a 3mm tolerance, compared to the 5mm and 7mm tolerances of competitor systems, we’re underwriting through-life performance.”, continued Steve.

Door furniture and hardware is Trojan, while standard hinges and locks are manufactured by Ingenious, with heritage and auto-locking options from Winkhaus.  Door cylinders are six-pin anti-drill and pick as standard with the UKAS accredited 3-star BSI TS007 tested Ingenious cylinder, also available as an upgrade option.

Glass options include a choice of double or triple-glazed options, achieving U-Values as low as 1.0Wm2.K including laminated and toughened options.

Available in lead times of 5-days or less, standard colours are black, red, blue, green, Gold Oak and Rosewood, while a range of premium finishes are also available.

This is combined with a choice of standard or colour matched, fully reinforced Duraflex and Eurocell 70mm PVC-U outer frames and slim, low line aluminium thresholds with twin seals. Both Duraflex and Eurocell framed doors have been tested to PAS24:2016.

Mines continues: “The technical advantages delivered by the new Capstone leaf – most significantly PAS24 approval – are major benefits.

“It’s highly competitive but the performance that it delivers, choice of colour and finishing options, means it can be sold against any door in the upper end. It’s really flexible and delivers a lot of very strong USPs.”

Palmer suggests that composite doors now account for 50% of the entrance door market, the share rising to 54% by installed value with the inclusion of PVC/ABS faced doors.

The Market for Domestic Entrance Doors 2017 edition also forecasts a 22% increase in composite door sales through to 2020.

A LogiKal update

Fensterbau saw the launch by Orgadata of the latest version of its LogiKal aluminium processing software, which is distributed exclusively in the UK by BM Aluminium.

Dean Hodges, managing director of BM Aluminium, said: “I think users of LogiKal 11.1 will particularly like the faster print preview function in 11.2 for calculations, work orders and quotations, and the fact that they will be able to find their way round reports much more quickly now just by clicking anywhere in the table of contents and going straight to that page.

“They will also be pleased to see that the Fittings Wizard tool introduced in LogiKal 11, which previously could only be used for doors, has proved so popular that it has now been extended to windows as well.

“And, customers who have already introduced the InfoServer factory process control system into their operations, or are thinking about doing so, will like the fact that this now features a messenger app which sends messages directly from production to a smartphone.

“The InfoServer system also has a new exact time export function allowing reports to be generated showing how long each process and production stage is taking, giving them a useful tool to analyse speed and performance.”
